Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED
Experiences in Dalat
I. OBJECTIVES: * * By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to gain the following items:
1. Knowledge:
- To introduce topic about “ Our experiences”
- To use the words related to experiences and adjectives describing experiences;
- To practice listening and reading skills .
+ Integrated skills: Listening, speaking, reading, writing.
* Vocabulary:
- Use the words related to experiences and adjectives describing experiences;
- Pronounce the sounds /j/ and /w/ correctly in words and sentences;
* New words: experience, speciality, gong show, thrilling, eco- tour, species, magnificent, scenery, stream, grilled (pork), ride a jeep, memorable …
+ Apologise and respond;
+ Talk about a friend's experiences of a course;
* Grammar:
- Use the present perfect correctly;
2. Competence:
- Develop communication skills.
- Be co-operative and supportive in pair work and teamwork.
Digital Competence (1.2.TC2a; 5.2.TC2b): Data Retrieval & Digital Problem Solving.
· Data Retrieval & Evaluation (1.2.TC2a): Students use advanced Google Search filters to retrieve authentic travel reviews and data (e.g., TripAdvisor, travel blogs) to enrich their descriptions of memorable experiences.
· Digital Problem Solving (5.2.TC2b): Students design a digital survey (using Google Forms) to solve the problem of collecting data efficiently. They then use spreadsheet software (Google Sheets/Excel) to analyze the class's experience data and generate visual charts for their final presentation.
Digital evidence/assessment: Google Form question list, response screenshot, Google Sheets chart, one authentic travel-review/source link, and a short oral report using experience adjectives.
3. Personal qualities:
+ Be friendlier and willing to make more friends at school
- Actively participate in class and school activities
- Develop self-study skills.
Objectives For students with disabilities
By the end of the lesson, students can:
- recognize and say 4 experience words or phrases: experience, eco-tour, riding a jeep, and gong show, with teacher's help.
- listen to the conversation and point to 2 pictures about Tom's experiences in Da Lat.
- answer 2 simple Yes/No questions about the conversation with teacher's help.
- match 2 activities with simple adjectives such as thrilling, memorable or enjoyable.
- ask or answer 1 short survey question: “Do you like taking photos?” using Yes/No.

+ Greeting + Memorising game. - Teacher divides the class into 2 teams. - Teacher asks students to look through the conversation and the picture in page 50 in 30 seconds and try to remember as many details as possible. - Teacher asks questions about the picture. The team who has more correct answers is the winner. - Teacher sets the context for the listening and reading text:
** Write the title on the board Experiences in Da Lat. Explain the meaning of Experience and ask students to guess what the conversation might be about.
For students with disabilities Teacher: - Shows the picture on page 50 and asks only 2 simple questions: How many people? What vehicle? - Allows the student to answer by pointing or saying 1-2 words. Students: - Look at the picture and point to people and jeep. - Answer 1-2 short questions with teacher's help. |
