I. OBJECTIVES

By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to:

- Use the lexical items related to the topic Planet Earth;

- Have the right rhythm in sentences.

Vocabulary: Planet Earth; Habitats; Flora and fauna

Pronunciation: Rhythm in sentences

Grammar: Non-defining relative clauses

2. Competences

- Be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork;

- Access and consolidate information from a variety of sources.

3. Personal qualities

- Actively participate in class and school activities;

- Develop self-study skills.

Digital Competences

1.1.TC2a / 1.2.TC2a: Information & Data Literacy: Process and evaluate digital text, visual data, and audio.

2.1.TC2a / 2.1.TC2b: Communication & Collaboration: Interact via digital technologies and shared screens.

5.3.TC2a: Problem Solving: Utilize digital tools (interactive quizzes, drag-and-drop) to verify linguistic accuracy.

III. PROCEDURES

TEACHER’S AND STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES

CONTENTS

1. ACTIVITY 1 - WARM-UP (5 mins)

a. Objectives:

- To activate students’ prior knowledge and vocabulary related to the topic;

- To enhance students’ skills of cooperating with teammates.

b. Content:

- Brainstorming

- Wordly word chain

c. Expected outcomes:

- Students can recall some words and phrases about planet Earth.

d. Organisation:

2.1.TC2a: Interacting through digital technologies.

Task delivering: The teacher sets up a vibrant "Relay Race" on the projector screen using a digital drag-and-drop slide (or Hoclieu.vn). There are 5 pictures on the left and 5 floating words on the right. The class is divided into Team A and Team B.

Scaffolding (Pre-task): (Weak) "Look at the screen. Who can point to the picture of the 'Solar System'?"

Task performance: Students line up. When the upbeat countdown music starts, one student from each team runs to the teacher's computer, drags ONE word to the correct picture, and runs back to high-five the next teammate.

Scaffolding (During task - for encouragement): (Average) "Quick! Find the word that means a place where animals live (Habitat)!"

Report & discussion: Both teams look at the final results on the shared screen. The teacher asks the whole class to read the matched words aloud.

Judgement: The teacher clicks the "Check" button on the digital platform. The system reveals the correct answers with a rewarding sound. The winning team gets a round of applause.

Words / phrases:

Solar System, outer space, landforms, water bodies, flora and fauna, liquid water, glacier

2. ACTIVITY 2 - PRESENTATION (5 mins)

a. Objectives:

- To provide students new vocabulary;

b. Content:

- Vocabulary pre-teaching

c. Expected outcomes:

- Students can identify some vocabulary about planet Earth and use them in different contexts.
