Lesson 5: Skills 1

I. OBJECTIVES: * By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

- Use the lexical items related to natural disasters.

- Further understand about natural disasters through the two articles.

- Prepare a short piece of news about natural disasters.

1. Knowledge:

+ Vocabulary: Ash (n); Tsunami (n); Tremble (v)

+ Language: Giving and responding to bad news: I’m sorry to hear that….That’s awful.

+ Pronunciation: Stress in words ending in - al and -ous

2. Competence:

a) General competencies:

- Develop communication skills and creativity.

- Be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork.

- Actively join in class activities.

b) Specific competencies:

- Group work and independent working, pair work, linguistic competence, cooperative learning and communicative competence.

c) Digital competencies:

NLS1 (3.1.TC2a): Create simple digital content under guidance -> organising information, preparing and reporting a short news item

NLS4 (4.1.TC2a): Apply basic digital safety rules -> protecting devices, not sharing personal data, asking teachers for help when technical problems occur

CDS: Knowing when and how to ask adults/teachers for technical support

NLa: Human-centred thinking (empathy for disaster victims)

NLb: AI ethics (digital tools support learning, not replace thinking)

3. Qualities:

- Develop awareness of Natural disasters. Be concerned to Natural disasters. Have a positive attitude toward shopping places and dream shopping place. Ss have the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pair work, cooperative learning.

II. PREPARATIONS
