UNIT 8: SHOPPING

Lesson 7: Looking back - Project P90-91

I. OBJECTIVES: * By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

- Repeat and distinguish the uses of adverbs of frequency

- Memorize the use of the present simple with future actions

- Memorize some words related to shopping and online shopping.

1. Knowledge:

+ Vocabulary: Review words related to the topic SHOPPING

+ Language: Review

+ Pronunciation: Review

2. Competence:

a) General competencies:

- Develop communication skills and creativity.

- Be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork.

- Actively join in class activities.

b) Specific competencies:

- Group work and independent working, pair work, linguistic competence, cooperative learning and communicative competence.

- Sts can introduce themselves or one another fluently.

c) Digital competences (roles clearly stated)

NLS1 (1.2.TC2a) – Data & Information Literacy: Students identify, recall and organise information from visual and digital materials (video clips, images, vocabulary lists) related to shopping.

NLS5 (5.2.TC2b) – Problem Solving: Students analyse needs, evaluate options and make decisions when reviewing shopping situations and designing a dream shopping place.

NLa: Human-centred thinking (designing a shopping place based on real community needs).

NLb: Ethical awareness (avoiding misleading advertising when presenting a shopping place).

3. Qualities: - consolidate ss’ awareness of shopping and online shopping. Have a positive attitude toward shopping places and dream shopping place. Ss have the good attitude to working in groups, individual work, pair work, cooperative learning.

II. PREPARATIONS

Teacher: Grade 8 textbook, laptop, TV, pictures and realia, Computer connected to the Internet. Phần mềm tương tác hoclieu.vn

Students: Text books, pencils, pics, blank papers, realia,….

III. PROCEDURE

1. WARM-UP (5’-IW)

a. Objectives:

- To create an active atmosphere in the class before the lesson;

- To help ss focus on the listening writing topic

b. Content:

- Have ss play the game “Kim’s game”

c. Product:

- Having a chance to speak English and focus on the topic of the lesson.

d. Implementation:

TEACHER’S AND STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES

CONTENTS

Digital tool: Short video clip showing different types of shops (hoclieu.vn)

Task delivering: Students work in groups of three or four.

“Watch carefully. Don’t write anything.”

They watch a short video and try to remember as many types of shops as possible without taking notes .

Task performance: After watching, students write down the shop names.

Report & discussion: Groups exchange their lists and check answers together.

Judgement: The teacher shows the correct answers and gives feedback.

NLS1 (1.2.TC2a -role): Students recall and organise information from a digital video source , a key skill in handling visual information
