1. Hỏi khả năng

Để hỏi về khả năng ai đó có thể làm gì, chúng ta dùng cấu trúc sau:

- Hỏi: Can you + V nguyên mẫu? (Bạn có thể ... không?)

- Trả lời:

• Yes, I can. (Vâng, mình có thể.)
• No, I can't. (Không, mình không thể.)

Ví dụ:

Can you cook? (Bạn có thể nấu ăn không?)

⇒ Yes, I can. (Vâng, mình có thể.)

2. Hỏi giá cả

- Cấu trúc hỏi về giá cả của danh từ số ít: How much is ............?

Ví dụ: How much is that hat? (Cái mũ đó giá bao nhiêu?)

- Cấu trúc hỏi về giá cả của danh từ số nhiều: How much are ............?

Ví dụ: How much are these books? (Những quyển sách này giá bao nhiêu?)

3. Cấu trúc Would you like

Cấu trúc Would you like dùng để mời hoặc đề nghị:

- Would you like + Noun?

- Would you like + to verb (infinitive)?

- S + would like + N/to infinitive + O

Ví dụ: Would you like some orange juice? (Bạn có muốn uống một chút nước cam không?)

4. Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn

4.1. Cấu trúc

- Dạng khẳng định: S + am/ is/ are + V-ing

- Dạng phủ định: S + am/ is/ are + not + V-ing

- Dạng nghi vấn: Am/ is/ are + S + V-ing?

Ví dụ: I am eating now. (Bây giờ tôi đang ăn)

4.2. Cách dùng

Diễn đạt một hành động đang xảy ra tại thời điểm nói.

4.3. Dấu hiệu nhận biết

- now: bây giờ

- right now: ngay bây giờ

- at the moment: lúc này

- at present: hiện tại

- at + giờ cụ thể (at 12 o’clock)

- Look!: Nhìn kìa!

- Listen!: Hãy nghe này!

- Keep silent!: Hãy im lặng!

a. Khẳng định

S + v +ed/ v (bất quy tắc ở quá khứ)

+ Động từ có qui tắc khi biến đổi về dạng khẳng định ở quá khứ ta cộng thêm đuôi "ed" vào sau động từ

Eg: work → worked

Những động từ theo qui tắc thường gặp: listen, play, clean, watch, wash, like, want, love, hate, dance, act, paint, sign, use, talk, look, show, need, look...

* Nguyên tắc thêm đuôi "ed"

- Những động từ kết thúc là "e" ta chỉ thêm "d" :

Eg : - arrive → arrived

Like → liked

- Những động từ một âm tiết, tận cùng là một phụ âm trước nó là một nguyên âm duy nhất , ta gấp đôi phụ âm cuối rồi thêm đuôi "ed".

Eg : - stop → stopped

- fit → fitted

- Những động từ kết thúc là "y" trước y là một phụ âm , ta đổi y thành "i" rồi thêm ed

Eg : - study - studied

- Những động từ kết thúc "y", trước "y" là một nguyên âm, ta chỉ việc cộng thêm "ed".

Eg: - play - played

* Cách đọc đuôi "ed"

- Đuôi "ed" có 3 cách đọc: /id/, /t/, /d/

- Ta đọc đuôi "ed" là /id/ khi trước "ed" là "t" và "d"

Eg: wan t ed, nee d ed

- Ta đọc "ed" là /t/ khi trước "ed" là: p,k,f,ch,sh,s,x, hoặc có "ce"

Eg: Stop p ed, loo k ed, wa sh ed, wat ch ed, mis s ed, fi x ed, coo k ed, practi ce d

- Ta đọc đuôi "ed" là /d/ với các trường hợp còn lại
