I. OBJECTIVES:By the end of this unit, students will be able to gain the following things:

2. Negative sentences: S + be not + Ving

They are not using solar energy.

4. W questions: W + S + be + Ving?

2. Competence:

a) General competencies:

Students will be able to know more words and phrases about energy sources; Develop communication skills and creativity; actively join in class activities.

b) Specific competencies:

- Develop communication skills and cultural awareness.

- Be cooperative and supportive in pair work and teamwork.

- Actively join in class activities.

c) Digital Competence:

3.1.TC1a (Digital Content Creation): Record short digital video/audio interviews using a smartphone.

3.2.TC1a (Sharing via Digital Technologies): Share educational media files to the class's digital group (Zalo/Drive).

4.4.TC1a (Environmental Protection): Practice "Paperless Grammar" by doing exercises directly on the digital interface (Hoclieu.vn) to reduce paper waste.

5.2.TC1a (Problem Solving): Interact with digital platforms to complete grammar tasks and receive instant feedback.

5.2.TC1b (Creative Use of Digital Tools): Share practical solutions for saving energy in a digital environment during the speaking task.

3. Qualities:

III. PROCEDURE:

Activity 1. WARM UP (5’-IW, GW)

* Aim:

- To activate students’ knowledge on the topic of the unit

- To enhance students’ skills of cooperating with team mates

* Content:

To have some warm-up activities to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to inspire Ss to warm up to the subject and new lesson.

* Product: Having a chance to speak English and focus on the topic of the lesson..

JUMBLE SENTENCES

THE "GRAMMAR SCRAMBLE" RACE (5 mins)

The Mission: Decode the secret messages to unlock the lesson's main topic.

Task Delivering: GV divides the class into 4 teams. GV projects a set of jumbled words on the screen (e.g., are / using / solar / They / not / energy).

Scaffolding Questions:

Low Level: Which word usually stands at the beginning of a sentence? (Subject/Capitalized word).

Mid Level: Can you find the "to be" verb and the "V-ing" word?

High Level: What is the time frame of this sentence? Past, present, or future?

Task Performance: Teams discuss and shout out the correct sentence order. A representative from the fastest team comes to the laptop to type the answer into the digital slide (5.2.TC1a).

Report & Discussion: The class reads the unscrambled sentences aloud (e.g., They are not using solar energy.).

Judgement: GV awards "Speed Points" and introduces the grammar focus: The Present Continuous.

Suggested answers:

1. She is learning English now.

2. They are not using solar energy.

3. Are you working on your Project?

4. Where is your brother studying?

5. She is playing basketball in the school yard.
