UNIT 9: FESTIVALS AROUND THE WORLD

Lesson 1: Getting started – A Tulip Festival

I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to gain:

1. Knowledge: - An overview about the topic “Festivals around the world”

- Lexical items related to the topic “Festivals”: names of different festivals around the world.

2. Competence:

a) General competencies:

- Develop communication skills and cultural awareness

- Be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork

- Actively join in class activities

b) Specific competencies:

- Develop communication skills and cultural awareness

c) Digital integration focus:

NLS1 (1.1.TC1a): Students access and recognise basic information about international festivals through digital images and audio input.

NLS1 (2.2.TC1c):Students share information and ideas in pairs/groups using a learning platform or teacher-prepared digital prompts.

NLS1 (3.1.TC1a):Students evaluate the relevance and reliability of visual/audio information related to festivals.

NLS3 (3.1.TC2a):Students create simple spoken responses based on digital input.
