1. Khái niệm trạng từ chỉ tuần suất

Trạng từ chỉ tần suất (Adverb of frequency) được sử dụng để diễn tả mức độ thường xuyên hoặc không thường xuyên của một hành động, sự việc, hay trạng thái nào đó. Chúng giúp ta biết một hành động xảy ra có thường xuyên hay không trong một khoảng thời gian nhất định.

Ví dụ về những câu có chứa trạng từ tần suất trong tiếng anh:

• I always drink a cup of coffee in the morning (Tôi luôn uống một cốc cà phê vào buổi sáng)
• She usually takes the bus to work (Cô ấy thường đi xe buýt đến nơi làm việc)
• Hung and Lan often go to the park on weekends (Hưng và Lan thường hay đến công viên vào cuối tuần)

2. Vị trí đứng của trạng từ chỉ tần suất

- Đứng sau động từ “tobe”

Ví dụ: I am never late for school. (Tôi không bao giờ đi học trễ)

- Đứng trước động từ chính và đứng sau chủ từ

Ví dụ: He sometimes wash his car. (Anh ta thỉnh thoảng mới rửa xe)

- Đứng giữa trợ động từ và động từ chính trong câu

Ví dụ:

– I have never been abroad. (Tôi chưa bao giờ đi nước ngoài)

– You should usually do your homework before going to school. (Bạn nên làm bài tập về nhà trước khi đến lớp)

- Đứng ở đầu câu và cuối câu, vị trí này chỉ dành cho những trạng từ: usually, often và sometimes, khi trạng từ đứng ở đầu câu với mục đích nhấn mạnh ý của người nói.

Cách 1: Trạng từ tần suất được sử dụng khi người nói muốn diễn tả mức độ thường xuyên hoặc không thường xuyên của hành động

• I always brush my teeth before going to bed (Tôi luôn luôn đánh răng trước khi đi ngủ)

Cách 2: Trạng từ tần suất thường được sử dụng để đáp lại câu hỏi “How often?” (Bạn có thường xuyên làm gì đó không?)

Ví dụ:

• How often do they eat out at restaurants? (Họ có thường xuyên đi ăn ngoài nhà hàng không?)

→ They eat out at restaurants once or twice a month (Họ ăn ngoài nhà hàng một hoặc hai lần một tháng)
