I. AIMS
1. Knowledge

- revise the vocabulary and grammar of Unit 4.
- apply what students have learnt (vocabulary and grammar) into practice through a project.
1.1. Vocabulary: The lexical items related to the life of the ethnic people.
1.2. Grammar:
+ Yes / No and WH-questions.
+ Countable and uncountable nouns.
2. Competences
- Develop communication skills and creativity
- Be collaborative and supportive in pair work and teamwork
- Actively join in class activities.
* Digital competence:
- Searching for data, information, and content in the digital environment.
- Utilize appropriate digital technologies to share data, information, and digital content.

- Love talking about ethnic groups of Viet Nam.

III. TEACHING PROCEDURES
1. Class organization/ Warm up
* Game: Which ethnic group is this?
- Teacher divides Ss into 2 groups.
- Teacher shows some pictures on the screen.
- Each group takes turns to guess which ethnic group the picture is.
- Ss play the game in 3 minutes.
- The group with the most correct answers is the winner.

2. New lesson
a. Activity 1. Match the words and phrases with the pictures. (Part 1. Page 48)
* Objective: To help Ss revise the vocabulary they have learnt in the unit through pictures.

* Output: Ss remember the meaning of the words.
* Process
- Teacher asks Ss to work individually and read the words/ phrases carefully.
- Ss match the phrases with suitable pictures.
- Teacher calls some Ss to share their answers.
- Teacher confirms the correct answers as a class.

* Objective: To help Ss revise more vocabulary items they have learnt in the unit in different contexts.

* Process:
- Teacher asks Ss to read the word and phrases in the box and see if they still remember their meanings.
- Ss read each sentence and choose the correct answer from the box to complete it.
- Teacher asks Ss to double-check their answers with their partners.
- Teacher confirms the correct answers as a class.

2. PRESENTATION (New Words) * Goal: Ss understand the meaning, form, and pronunciation of 8 new words. Integrate NLS 1.1.TC2b. * Vocabulary Presentation: * Presents the 8 new words from SB p. 24 8: affect, cause, pollute, disease, wildlife, tourism, environment, damage. * Elicits meaning, provides examples, and checks pronunciation. * Task a (p. 24): Asks Ss to work individually to match the words with their definitions. Checks answers as a class. * NLS Integration (1.1.TC2b - Organizing Searches): * Divides class into 4 groups. Ss use their phones (BYOD). * "Quick Search" Task: "Use your phone and Google Images. Search in English for ONE picture that shows..." * Group 1: ...how pollution affects wildlife. * Group 2: ...how pollution causes disease. * Group 3: ...how pollution damages the environment. * Group 4: ...how pollution affects tourism. * After 2 minutes, asks groups to show their chosen picture. Asks 1-2 Ss to describe what they found. |
