Warm up (5 mins)

Aims: Teacher can draw students’ attention, and lead in the lesson.

Content: Mini game

Expected outcome: Ss understand the topic they are learning.

Procedure:

“Guessing Game”

- Prepare 5 cards with words about stages of life. (a baby, a child, a teenager, an adult, an old person).

- Call some volunteers to do actions to describe the words; the others will guess the words.

- Call some students to answer the question:

“Do you like being the age that you are now? Why / Why not?”

Some extra questions for stronger classes:

“What things were easier or harder when you were younger?”

“What things will be better in the future?”

-> Leads in the lesson.

- Some voluntary students use body language to describe the words.

- Other students will guess.

- Answer the question.

- Listen to the teacher.

Expected answers:

Students ‘own answers.

Presentation (11 mins)

Aim: Students can:

- select suitable vocabulary to talk about the activity in their stages of life.

- recognize the use of get.

Content: New words, pronunciation, grammar point.

Expected outcome: Ss understand the knowledge.

Procedure:

Activity 1: Provide vocabulary:

1. Introduce vocabulary:

- Use some techniques to help students guess the meanings of the new words.

- Read new words.

- Show the words.

- Have students repeat the new words, and/or make sentences with them.

- Note down the words.

New words:

- degree (n) /dɪˈɡriː/

- driving license (n) /ˈdraɪ.vɪŋ/ /ˈlaɪ.səns/

- Have students in groups do a small blank-filling exercise to check if they understand the meaning of the words.

- Check answers.

- Expand the USE of GET.

- Give example and explain.

- Call some students to make example.

- Learn new words.

- Read new words.

- Repeat words (make sentences if they can).

- Write new words down the notebook.

- Do the exercise in groups.

- Listen to correction and explanation.

- Listen to the teacher.

- Note down the structure.
